Abstract

The 2023 Indonesian Health Survey (SKI) shows that the prevalence of severe mental disorders such as schizophrenia in Indonesia reaches 7 per thousand. Due to the lack of rehabilitation interventions targeting psychosocial aspects, many patients who have undergone medical treatment experience relapses. Restoring the patient's social function is a crucial but often overlooked component. The social function of patients with mental disorders can be significantly improved thru group socialization therapy interventions. The purpose of this study is to determine the effect of socialization group activity therapy on the social function of people with mental disorders. The research type is Quasy Experimental with a one-group without control Pretest and Posttest Design. The instruments used were the Social Functioning Scale (SFS) Questionnaire and the Socialization TAK SOP. The research will be conducted in the treatment room of RSKD Dadi Provinsi Sulawesi Selatan, with a sample size of 30 respondents using non-probability sampling. The research results show that the social function scores of patients with mental disorders increased from an average of 43.6 before socialization TAK to 61.0 after the intervention. Paired t-tests showed a significant improvement in social function (p < 0.001) after patients participated in socialization TAK. This proves that group intervention significantly affects the social skills of patients with mental disorders. In conclusion, there is an effect of providing social skills training on improving the social functioning of people with mental disorders. It is recommended that the hospital administration be more consistent in providing therapy to its patients.
