Abstract

Nurse work in the emergency department is handling patients with emergencies that require high concentration and intensity with uncertain situations.


Job stress on nurses is one of the problems in human resource management in hospitals. Stress is an adoptive response to a situation that is perceived as challenging or threatening one's health (Pelapina heriana, 2014). Factors that cause stress a) internal factors: personality, abilities, cultural values, b) external factors: come from organizations / jobs and non-organizations / outside work. Job stress is a dynamic condition in which a person is faced with an opportunity, demand, or resource related to the person's desires and the results are considered uncertain and important. Stress that is too high or low, in a certain period of time can reduce performance. (Sunyoto, 2013).


The purpose of this study was to determine the relationship between work shift changes and work stress levels on nurses in the emergency room of Polewali Mandar Hospital.


The research method is correlation study. The sampling method uses total sampling with a total sample of 39 respondents


The results obtained by the Statistical Test using the Chi-Square formula, obtained Fisher's Exaxct Test value with a value of ?-value = 0.681 Because ?-value <of alpha 0.05, then H? is rejected and H accepted, so it can be said that there is no Significantly between work stress and work shift changes nurse executives in carrying out nursing services.
